In Moscow, there are few restaurants with own history that cherish traditions, tastes, customs, and names. It’s been 12 years that the ground floor of an old mansion in Mansurovsky side street is occupied by Italian Boutique Restaurant Colonna, which often welcomes people of art, representatives of embassies, statesmen and all those who appreciate delicious food. The restaurant keeps its genuineness and entertains its visitors with traditional Italian dishes cooked from natural products brought from Italy. The restaurant menu includes more than 120 Italian classics and original culinary creations. Chef of the restaurant Battiato Cataldo comes from Sicily. He brought mediterraneo to Moscow, which includes pastas, meat, fish, vegetables, and cheese.
Vasili Tsereteli, artist, person of art, Director of Moscow Museum of Modern Art, paid much attention to the restaurant’s development. It was Mr. Tsereteli, who transformed Colonna Restaurant to a boutique and gave it the second wind. He did not just assumed management, but set himself a task to preserve traditions of the restaurant. As the time and generations went by a new timely vision was needed that would open new page in the history of this Italian little place.

Preserving its experience the restaurant became aground for art exhibitions and social events, but remained a pleasant place for business meetings and quiet family dinners. Refreshed atmosphere combining domestic comfort and Italian distinctiveness were presented to the public as well as new name and interiors. Every guest can visit one of three halls of the restaurant: Cataldo, where pizzas are cooked in an oven with wood fire, one can choose any fresh fish he/she likes; Salotto, where one can observe modern art paintings sitting at table; lower hall Piccolo, where atmosphere of the Italian cinema reigns and, to the accompaniment of the grand piano, one can taste delicate dishes from the Chef, who kindly appears before the visitors and tells about his gastronomic creations.

On Wednesdays, Colonna Restaurant Boutique makes a surprising compliments to the visitors — an artist draws an exclusive portrait. On Thursdays, one can take delight in “Live Sounds of Grand Piano”. On Fridays and Saturdays, DJs play actual lounge sets. On weekends, special children feasts take place. Moreover, each visitor has a unique possibility to book a place in Sunday master classes with Chef Battiato Cataldo, who was recognized long time ago in Italy as a distinguished chef. Twice a year, Mr. Cataldo attends gastronomic courses at Etoile Institute, Venice, which is esteemed the best Italian culinary school. Inspired by new trends the Chef has brought to Colonna Boutique Sogliola in salsa di pompelmo (sole in grapefruit sauce), Braciola di vitello in salsa di mirtilli (pinbone veal in strawberry sauce), Risotto con asparagi e ganberetti in salsa di vino porto (risotto with asparagus and shrimps in Porto wine). Visitors can try to cook Italian dishes they liked the most at home using products from Colonna Boutique special Chef’s booklet.
